It’s fascinating how everyday things like bicycles simply slip into your life and become part of it.

The normal Danish summer has returned. It feels like a great relief after an intense record-breaking heatwave.
Otto, the driving force behind an alternative non-profit greengrocer in Copenhagen that distributes produce from small-scale regenerative farms across Zealand, sent me this beautiful image today.
The bicycle is custom-built to carry six of his crates at a time.

Today I visited the Royal Danish Academy’s hidden study collection of chairs in Copenhagen, where I had the chance to admire a chair and a cart by one of my own and XYZ CARGO’s greatest sources of inspiration, Gerrit Rietveld.
On my way home I happened to meet this guy, and took the opportunity to ask how he was getting on with his XYZ CARGO. Conversations like these are always valuable. You learn something every time.
Fortunately, he was still very enthusiastic about the bike...

My friend Per recently acquired his dream boat, a Danish-built trimaran called a Dragonfly, seen here in the photo. The outriggers are folded in so that it takes up less space in the harbour.
He is currently restoring the boat and uses his XYZ CARGO TWOSEATER to transport himself and materials between his home and the marina.
I think the boat and the bike suit each other rather well!

And now to something completely different...
Theo and Jules have now finished painting and outfitting their XYZ CARGO TRUCK that we built for them. They sell tacos in Marseille, France, and have just held their first event with great success.
It is wonderful to see art become part of everyday life in this way, supporting a small sustainable business far away from Denmark.

XYZ CARGO FOURWHEELER comes in handy when you need to trim a few bushes blocking the view to the sea and contribute a bit of material for the village Midsummer bonfire. Whatever works!

Anne and our dog Ronja helped test ride a specially built trike with wide off-road tires. It is for a customer who lives in a mountainous area and is equipped with the new motor system and special gearing. It even performed beautifully across a field! The bike is also fitted with mounts for Osprey bicycle panniers.

Cargo bikes are not only for the city. They work beautifully in the countryside too.

Too many households rely on two cars, even though one is often enough for the longer distances. Frederik, who lives here in our small village where our danish studio is located, recently chose an XYZ CARGO instead of a second car.

His family now uses it for everyday shopping, for taking the children to school in the nearby town, and for many good trips through the surrounding landscape.

For the children it makes a big difference. Instead of sitting in the back seat of a car with an iPad, they experience the landscape directly, the wind, the sounds, the changing seasons.

Sometimes a different way of moving simply gives a different way of seeing the world.

Two special bicycles for a non-profit greengrocer in Copenhagen distributing products from small-scale regenerative farms in Zealand, and a family bicycle with a child seat for a local family. Art as part of everyday life.

XYZ CARGO started in 2010 as a contribution to a public artwork N55 had been invited to create in Belgium. Together with Till, we developed the first bicycles. Today they are part of countless situations in all sorts of corners of society. We are proud of that.

Modularity is in our DNA. All our XYZ CARGO bikes can easily be adapted for any use case.

Transform for example the TRIKE, just by exchanging the top module: From Transport Bike, to Food Bike, Mobile Workshop and back - in less than a minute!
