A wonderful person who was an intern at N55 nineteen years ago visited us and attended the presentation of the SPACEPLATES book and the SPACEPLATES short film.
The last time she saw my son Frode was nineteen years ago, when he was only three years old.

Playing around with two formative projects from the early and mid-nineties in a new interactive form. The blue dot was originally a small ball mounted on a wall, accompanied by a text about implosion and explosion, and the area surrounding a point. The REVOLUTIONSUPER project began as a number of medicine boxes placed on a wall, each marked with a letter arranged according to a pattern generated through several steps of Conway’s Game of Life. In the final box there was a bomb, counting down ever louder and faster. Hit it with your finger or your mouse and watch the evolution unfold…

XYZ CARGO FOURWHEELER comes in handy when you need to trim a few bushes blocking the view to the sea and contribute a bit of material for the village Midsummer bonfire. Whatever works!

For the past few weeks I have been working on a new project called AUTONOMOUS SOCIAL MEDIA.
Receiving the Danish State’s lifelong honorary grant has given me something I have not had for a very long time: the freedom to spend time on questions that I find important, whether or not they fit into the logic of the productive order. I have also spent time doing things that had been postponed for years: organising my physical library, sorting archives, reading, reflecting and revisiting ideas that have accompanied me for a long time.

Theo from @inspeer_org and his best friend just picked up their XYZ CARGO TRUCK

Next stop: Marseille
A rolling taco restaurant on four wheels 🌮

What matters is not just the bike.
It is the people, the ideas, and the ways of living that come with it.

Open systems.
Shared knowledge.
Built to be used, adapted, and understood.

I have been awarded the lifelong honorary grant (hædersydelsen) from the Danish Arts Foundation.

I am grateful for this recognition. It means a lot to me.

I have always worked in collaboration with others, and I would like to thank everyone who has been part of it.

Fewer cars - more bikes: Cruising through 'Autostadt Wolfsburg' during our exhibition there some years ago ...

We are still proud to prove: You can do everything different than the traditional (car) industry - and still succeed:

Fair, sustainable production in local micro factories - instead of running polluting mega-plants.

Accessible, affordable products for everyone - instead of squeezing out maximum profit.

Modular vehicles, easy to customize, repair and recycle - instead of following the usual one-way street of consumerism.

Design, build and ride more bikes - instead of more cars ✌

Anne and our dog Ronja helped test ride a specially built trike with wide off-road tires. It is for a customer who lives in a mountainous area and is equipped with the new motor system and special gearing. It even performed beautifully across a field! The bike is also fitted with mounts for Osprey bicycle panniers.

Cargo bikes are not only for the city. They work beautifully in the countryside too.

Too many households rely on two cars, even though one is often enough for the longer distances. Frederik, who lives here in our small village where our danish studio is located, recently chose an XYZ CARGO instead of a second car.

His family now uses it for everyday shopping, for taking the children to school in the nearby town, and for many good trips through the surrounding landscape.

For the children it makes a big difference. Instead of sitting in the back seat of a car with an iPad, they experience the landscape directly, the wind, the sounds, the changing seasons.

Sometimes a different way of moving simply gives a different way of seeing the world.

Spring has arrived!

Two special bicycles for a non-profit greengrocer in Copenhagen distributing products from small-scale regenerative farms in Zealand, and a family bicycle with a child seat for a local family. Art as part of everyday life.

XYZ CARGO started in 2010 as a contribution to a public artwork N55 had been invited to create in Belgium. Together with Till, we developed the first bicycles. Today they are part of countless situations in all sorts of corners of society. We are proud of that.

Here is a winter greeting from the new SPACEPLATES GREENHOUSE at the staffed playground on Hulgårdsvej in Nørrebro, Copenhagen. Anne Romme visited and took the photos.

Thanks to our collaboration partner Njord, SPACEPLATES moves out into the world and becomes part of many different situations, finding a place in the everyday lives of people. This is when working with art makes sense.

The publisher is currently putting the final touches on the SPACEPLATES book, and we are looking forward to it going to print.

We wish you all a great closing of 2025! And a fresh start in 2026! Time to make a difference. Again. 😉

In the slideshow: A custom build XYZ CARGO trike - focusing on ‚transparency‘. We’ve build it in Hamburg for the Museum Of Fine Arts Leipzig. It features a long fold-out table and is used for citizen workshops and art events in urban space. Works in the daytime - and shines bright at night.

Looking forward to what’s coming up next! Ion & Till

Modularity is in our DNA. All our XYZ CARGO bikes can easily be adapted for any use case.

Transform for example the TRIKE, just by exchanging the top module: From Transport Bike, to Food Bike, Mobile Workshop and back - in less than a minute!

A true All-Purpose-Cargo-Bike! ✌
