44 cubic meters of my past lighter. Freedom!

Thanks to the help of those closest to me, my Anne, my sons, my family and my friend Tobias, I have finally started clearing out my house in Sweden. It has primarily been used as storage for old N55 artworks and is now being sold. It has been a burden to think about the place for the last 15 years. It will be great not to be the caretaker of old artworks anymore and not having to store them. Some are in museums, a few favorites are in storage in my studio in Denmark and all are well documented in books and pictures. So now it was time to move on... There are still about 20 cubic meters missing from the barn, but it will be cleared out soon. All the accumulated stuff doesn't own me anymore...

Our amazing Frode graduated from high school today with a great result. His brother Sigfus enjoyed the privilige of putting his hat on. It just makes me so happy...Photos by my wonderful Anne Romme

I have once again received a working grant from the Danish Arts Foundation. The recognition from my colleagues means a lot and I am grateful for their support. Thank you to the Danish Arts Foundation for this opportunity to further develop my work...

I am excited about my new life situation, where I can work with art as part of everyday life in the countryside as well as in the city. Thanks to the co-operation and understanding of Anne and my sons, I can spend more time in our studio in the countryside than before. It gives me peace to think and new things are on the way.

Here is a photo from a study trip with Anne and our kids a few weeks ago to Alhambra in Spain. The photo shows something that I find is beautiful, made by hand by a human being about 900 years ago...

The logical consequence of the introduction of AI is that we abolish ourselves. We are slowly being seduced and replaced by machines that are controlled by unscrupulous concentrations of power. In my humble opinion this is the most dangerous situation humanity has ever found itself in. We need comprehensive legislation in this field and we need it fast. We still have our democracies and we can still control the development of our societies if we choose to do so.

Yesterday I worked on XYZ CARGO BOOK, that focuses on art, politics and everyday life. I stumbled across this picture of our old bohemian life on the houseboat SHIP OF FOOLS on Christianshavn in Copenhagen, with the classic plastic 1972 Citroen Mehari parked on the quayside. It was a great environment, with many different boats and people. In the summer we had barbecues on the quayside in front of NOMA and there were a lot of parties which ended with swimming in the harbour.I don't miss those days, but I'm glad I have tried living in so many different ways in so many different situations. The place has long since been gentrified and taken over by rich people's housing. The car was completely smashed by a truck while parked. The boat was sold 10 years ago. The people have all moved on to new adventures…

Happy Solstice and a beautiful 2023!Collecting invasive oysters at the west coast of Denmark, has become a nice tradition...I have made some serious changes to my life, spending more time in our house in the small village Føns. Trying to find a more sustainable and less stressful, but still productive way of living. This is only possible thanks to my wonderful Annes and the kids support. Not having to pay an absurd rent for maintaining the studio in the city allows me to look into subjects like " Danish fishing techniques before industrialisation" and similar stuff that points toward new exciting projects.I have maintained an office in our apartment in Copenhagen, but the Studio is now here in the village and homebuilt by Anne and me. The XYZ CARGO project is going well and we are working on a project called SHELTERLANDSBYEN, initiated by Statens Kunstfond. Our Collaboration with the company Njord, that produces and distributes Geenhouses based on the project SPACEPLATES GREENHOUSES by N55, Anne Romme and Anne Bagger is also progressing fine.All the best wishes to all of you out there, ion

Anne and I are almost done building our new Studio in Føns. It took us a year plus a few months of work getting the building permit. We did most of the work ourselves. Nice big well-insulated space covered in locally sourced larch-wood. I used the space this weekend to restore an old work, the SNAIL SHELL SYSTEM, for an upcoming exhibition in Switzerland. The flag is up to celebrate Sigfus's 10th birthday!

I started practicing yoga a while ago after my daily morning jog. ( I am getting old and stiff in the joints. Yoga postpones the inevitable state of complete immobility ). A recurring problem is that Ronja takes over the sheepskin I use as a yoga mat. She doesn't want to move and I end up on the bare floor...If I lie down and try to push her away, she simply climbs on top of me and expect to be petted.
It is really hard to get properly stressed out with her around me.
